1921.

In 1922 he
purchased 600,000 acres in what was later to become
Collier County.
·
By 1928 he owned
over 1 million acres.
·
Acquired ownership of the Ft. Myers Press and later merged it
with the Tropical News, forming the Ft. Myers News
Press
Before his death in
1939 he had offices in seventy cities and more than
a thousand business interests
