Naples is one of the
youngest of the so-called “Cities” of South Florida. The location was selected-it might be
said discovered-in the autumn of 1885, and the town site was surveyed and
plotted during the winter and spring of 1886. Visitors in 1888 must not expect to find
a “City” already made; but the location and surroundings, the advantages,
beauties and attractions are all there, and the promise of rapid
development is flattering.
